RCRDBox recreates one of the lost joys of the record store - taking a gamble on weird, cheap music you've never heard of. Could be bizarre math rock or smooth jazz, who knows. But hey, the artwork looks cool! Every month, we send random albums (CD or vinyl, your pick) to your door. They're gathered both from Portland's copious independent record stores and closeouts sent to us by labels who want to reach our aggressively hip audience. We curate the library to keep things both interesting and quality. Subscribers are explicitly guaranteed to never get the same album twice, and implicitly guaranteed to get something completely different from what they're used to. Even with vinyl and CDs being "dead", it's still a $2.5B chunk of the industry. Streaming is growing, but at the expense of digital downloads, not physical media. We're near the point where physical media sells because it's preferred, and RCRDBox aims to be the preferred way for those consumers to discover something new.
